Garden of Gethsemane

On May 2nd, we took a drive out to Surrey and had a little walk around the Garden of Gethsemane Cemetery. It is a beautiful park like, place of rest, and in spite of the rain, was a lovely place to go. This is Kaylas place of rest and it was two years since she passed. I dont need to go here to feel close to her, but it is something I felt drawn to do.

Here some of the living residents patrol the grounds with their young. They probably live here as there is a nice pond in the park and a marsh area abuts onto the rear of the gardens.

It was spring Clean up week. So the graves had been cleared of old potted or artificial plants. And most of the graves had fresh new flowers on them. This section is the Chinese memorial. You may think I am morbid, but I actually like visiting cemeteries. I find them so peaceful and enjoy the reflective mood that comes over me there. I always leave with peace in my heart and a renewed appreciation for the people I have loved my life.

This is the same place that my ex-wife's father is buried. We went there a couple times. It's very nice and quiet there.

OK.. so I have never been there... but driven past... I didn't realize it was a cemetary. Silly me.

I don't find it morbid.. it's a way of appreciating of who has gone before us, and to give thought to those around us.

A lovely cemetery, Susan. I'm like you, and find peace when I visit but always feel close to those who have gone on before. (hugs)

What a lovely cemetery. I love the Biblical name. The first anniversary of my mom's passing will be tomorrow. I also enjoy visiting my parent's graves, even though, like you, I can remember them and think of them anywhere. It feels peaceful and I enjoy planting flowers on their graves.

I don't think you're morbid either....I am in agreeance with Deanna. And funny thing....I just drove by there the other day....when I was lost....and wondered what it was all about...now I know.

It looks like a nice tranquil place.
I spent the better part of the week at one, almost as nice.
