She Flew up to Heaven.

May 2nd marks a year since our beautiful niece Kayla was taken from us at just 17 years old, following a two year battle with cancer. She continues to be missed and is never far from our thoughts.

I am posting this Alan Jackson Song for her. Performed here in ASL, which I find really moving.

SISSY'S SONG

Why did she have to go
So young I just don't know why
Things happen half the time
Without reason without rhyme
Lovely, sweet young woman
Daughter, wife and mother
Makes no sense to me
I just have to believe

She flew up to Heaven on the wings of angels
By the clouds and stars and passed where no one sees
And she walks with Jesus and her loved ones waiting
And I know she's smiling saying
Don't worry 'bout me

Loved ones she left behind
Just trying to survive
And understand the why
Feeling so lost inside
Anger shot straight at God
Then asking for His love
Empty with disbelief
Just hoping that maybe

She flew up to Heaven on the wings of angels
By the clouds and stars and passed where no one sees
And she walks with Jesus and her loved ones waiting
And I know she's smiling saying
Don't worry 'bout me

It's hard to say goodbye
Her picture in my mind
Will always be of times I'll cherish
And I won't cry 'cause

She flew up to Heaven on the wings of angels
By the clouds and stars and passed where no one sees
And she walks with jesus and her loved ones waiting
And I know she's smiling saying
Don't worry 'bout me
Don't worry 'bout me
Don`t worry 'bout me

A year already. I like to think that Kayla is smiling from heaven, saying, Look, I am healthy and whole and happy.

God did heal her, not just in the way it was wanted.

The anniversary of the passing of a loved one is a time to remember all the wonderful memories and shared moments. Kayla touched the lives of so many with her courage in the face of such adversity, and with her winning smile. She will always be in the hearts of her family and friends, and now she is soaring with the angels.

The first anniversary of a loss, the first Christmas, birthday, thanksgiving, are all very poignant reminders of an absence at the table. But never an absence from the heart.

As always, I read along and enjoy your stories and pictures.

We most certainly haven't forgotten the lovely Kayla.

May 1st was my niece Kyra's 18th birthday, her 14th birthday in heaven.

I remember last year Kayla shaving her head around the same time that Steven did.

The boy that Steven shaved his head for died last October.

It's sad, Susan really sad. I wish I had something profound to say about it, I wish I could say I was at peace with it, but I don't and I'm not. Kayla should still be here and I wish she was.

Sending hugs, and prayers.

Hi, None of you ever met me, but I'm sorry she had to die and I'm sure she's smiling down on you all.

Wow, i came across this blog
when i was looking for lyrics to a
song that i was going to post
about my friend brandon who died
on May 2, 2010.

I'm very sorry for your loss.
No, Brandon did not suffer like
this girl did, he died due to
drinking and driving. He was 21
years old with a baby that was
to be born 2 weeks afterwards.

I cope so well because i know that brandon is in heaven, a way better place
than we are.
And just remember this girl is too.
I believe that only the good die young. And everything happens for a reason.
Kayla is dancing with the angels. <3
