Flowers in the grass

When I was a little girl, I loved daisies. The huge Shasta's like the one in my profile pic, were like sunny friends, always happy and cheery. But my favorites were the tiny daisies which grew in the grass. I remember in my early school years, sitting under the trees at lunch break and making daisy chains. Pick a daisy low down its tiny stem, pinch your finger nails through it to make a slot, then push the stem of the next daisy through it. On and on until a chain was formed. We would make necklaces and bracelets and crowns. We would go back in to class after lunch in all our finery. Always making sure to make one for the teacher to wear so she couldn't make us throw them in the garbage. We also used them to pull the petals off one at a time reciting, "He loves me, he loves me not, He loves me, He loves me not." Hoping that the current crush would be validated by ending on "He loves me"! Now, whenever I see daisies coming up through the grass, I get transported back to a more innocent, carefree time.
Another favorite 'wildflower' was the dandelion. So bright and plentiful. Who didn't pick handfuls of these beauties and run home, to present them to mum for her vase in the kitchen window. When ever my own children brought me such a bouquet, it brought back the memories of doing the same for my mum. How special that was. Mum was the most precious lady in our lives and she was much deserving of long stemmed roses, but I don't think they would bring the same joy as a hand picked bouquet of wilted 'wildflowers'.

Those are beautiful flowers. I saw where Keith went to be with Kayla for Easter. How precious is that?

Mother's day is around the corner...here's hoping the whole family is together. :)

What gorgeous pictures. Did you see "You've Got Mail" with Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks? She says "Don't you think daisies are such a friendly flower?" Near where I live is a big field of daisies, and every year I pick some and put them in a vase in my house.

Cheers,
Josie
