Home Improvements

Recently, we have been doing a lot of renovations on our old home. After this frigid winter, we have decided there are a few more improvements need making on our place.

For starters, our old aluminium frame windows are so very draughty and the single panes cause a lot of condensation. So we are getting thermal windows installed. It should save on the heating costs and be easier to maintain. Home Depot has a deal on right now plus our Hydro company has an incentive rebate. So which style do you think we should go with? The Medieval or the Gothic?

We have now patched and painted all the bedrooms, they are all looking nicely spruced up and tidy. Now the big challenge comes in painting the stairwell, I am freakishly scared of ladders. I actually start to cry if I go up more than four rungs. So the job of getting those high places will fall to Keith. I like this colour scheme of browns and golds. If I melt down all my gold jewelry, I just may have enough gold to paint a door knob!

If we replace the windows, we may as well replace that battered wooden door. It is so draughty and out of square, that you can see gaps where the wind comes in through it.
I thought these double beauties looked nice and solid, but the Lord and Master opted for a more sensible look, which features draught proofing and security but in a look more suitable to our humble abode.

Lastly, our side gate is sadly in need of repair. I am surprised it didn't blow down with all the wind we have had this winter. Perhaps instead of a wooden gate, we should shop around for something a bit more secure and elegant to boot. I wonder if Lizzy would consider giving up these iron gates?
Don't think so!
All these photos were taken on my old Kodak digital in London in 2003.

I didnt know they had double glazed windows in those days and if that is what you chose, will you be able to throw ham bones over your shoulder to the dogs

I think those gates are a little wide to replace your side gate, however, we have room for them, who pays the shipping?

I notice from your profile, that you selected the same question as me about the stars, we just answered in different ways.
