Whats Up?

Susan and Norm

The carpet of moss and giant ferns!

Look way down , Norman !
The handsome one on the right, now has laryngitis! Boy its quiet around here.

SO WHAT HAS SUSAN BEEN UP TO THIS LAST WEEK OR SO ? YOU MAY WELL ASK.
Let's see....Okay, for Christmas, Santa was very bad. He had promised to stay under the $60. limit. But on christmas morning I found a laptop under the tree! I love it, but I am in doubt if he will still be able to afford a plane ticket for Scotland later in the year!

I was on vacation for ten days at christmas so it made it a wonderful holiday. I was able to get baking done and we went to lots of parties. Mostly, I just enjoyed time with family, ohh yes and had lots of time to get to know my new laptop. hehehe!
Heidi missed the last week of school due to a bad cold. She still has a bit of a night time cough and its been almost three weeks. Now Keith has it. He barely has a voice! Poor Keith. It was his birthday this week too. He wasnt tooo sick to go out for dinner tonight though. He got a Christmas gift certificate from the office for the Keg Steakhouse. So tonight while I was at work He took our two Vegitarian kids out for a meal there! All three of them had salmon. I honestly did enjoy my thawed out pasta leftovers that I took to work with me, really I did! No guilt intended, well maybe just a bit.
During the holidays, my son's best friend(20) announced that he has joined up for the army and will be going to Afghanistan in the future. I love this boy, he has been like part of this family for a dozen years. I was surprized at my reaction. When I heard the news, I had to fight back tears and my hands started shaking.
I did'nt take any photos over christmas with mt camera as my cannon is out of order. Mysteriously, the button that you press to take the photo has dissapeared. Nobody seems to know what happened to it! So it needs a visit to the repair shop. My Panasonic camera was missing the battery charger. I searched high and low for it and of course after christmas I found hiding in plain sight.
New years day, the heavy clouds lifted enough to show new snow in the local hills. So Keith, his brother Norman and I, all bundled in the van to head up for a walk in the snow. The kids stayed home sleeping off their late new years eve. Wimps!!! At first we went up to Golden Ears Park in North Maple Ridge. But the gate was locked "due to trecherous driving conditions". So we turned around and went to the other side of the hill to Malcom Knapp - UBC research forest. It was open, and only had an inch of snow on the road, hardly hazardous. All the same, we had a nice walk in the forest. The photos in this post are all from there.
The dog has been itchy for a couple of weeks. We got him groomed before christmas and the groomer said he had no fleas. But he kept scratchingand was starting to get irritated skin. So the other day I took him to the vets. It turns out he has fleas!!! So we bathed him again, put the Advantage on him and all the cats and did a thoughrough vacuming. Poor little Binnie, he has never had fleas! I figure Heidi must have carried them home from work where she is in contact with dogs. Havent seen any fleas on her though.!!!
So how is your year going?

The first (and only time) I took Glory to the groomer she came home with fleas, she didn't have them when she went there, but the next day she started scratching.

It sounds like you had a wonderful Christmas.

I hope everyone is feeling better soon.

Belated Happy Birthday wishes to Keith. You two will have to plan a return visit to the Keg.

Santa was very generous, and I hope you enjoy the laptop. You must have been a really good girl last year!!

Enjoy your weekend.

Oooooh, a laptop. I wanna know where you can get one in that set price range. Keith really got a deal. LOL
My husband and I also got a gift cert to The Keg. I laughed about the fish, though. The last time we went there I ordered fish and it was undercooked. My son said that's what I get for ordering fish in a steakhouse. Ha Ha. Dare I try ordering fish again? I'm not a steak kinda gal. Maybe I'll have to use my certificate in B.C., where the odds of getting decent salmon is better.

Hi susan, I thought you had retired from blogging, it has been ages. Glad all is OK and you enjoyed your New Year.

Dad and I still a big groggy over New Year and I brought a cold and sore throat home from your place. Still got scratchy ears and a rough throat, but feeling well enough to get some work done for future events.

Poor Binnie, he sure was red and itchy over Christmas, hope he feels better now.

Hi Susan,
I would love a laptop!What a nice Christmas present.

Both Paul & I had the cold virus that is going around before and during the holidays. I lost my voice with it also for a couple days. We both had it for three weeks. Still worn out and tired from it. Hope all feel better soon.
Hugs,
Faye

Getting your holidays during the holiday season how unique is that.

Sounds like you had a great Christmas and I am sure Santa will manage to get to Scotland.

I haven't had the problem with my cats but they don't got outside or to the vets so i stand less of a chance of having to deal with it.

Glad you had a nice holiday, Susan! Sorry to hear that Keith is sick. What a nice prezzie he got you! Alicia's home from the first day back to school today. She's been in bed with a sore throat and fever for a couple off days now. What a bummer. There seems to be a couple different viruses going around. I'm just glad she has this one and not the throwy uppy one. Anyhoo, all the best in the New year...get that camera fixed so we can all get our fix of your beautiful photos!

Good to hear you had a wonderful day trekking through the forest. I'm not familiar with your area, but I understand it's quite nice and you get a great view of the mountains from there. I'll have to check out walking trails around MR and let you know if I'm coming out that way. We could get a coffee or whatever. Maybe Josie will come too.
