Vacation Over

My vacation time is fast drawing to a close.
We have had a lot to keep us occupied. The first few days of my leave were spent with Kayla and her siblings. After they departed, we went camping a couple of nights as mentioned in an earlier post. We got home from camping on Wednesday morning, and after a quick shower and a repack, Keith and I headed off to Harrison Hot Springs Spa and Resort for a couple of nights to celebrate our anniversary. That was nice. After a swim in the hot pool I felt so much better. The grime of camping soon became a distant memory! We took lots of photos, but thats for another post. We got back home on Friday morning and got ready for our next visitor.

We had my second cousin, Lee visiting from Scotland. She arrived on Saturday, and I always love going to meet people at the airport. On Sunday, we took her out to White Rock, where we had a nice walk along the beach and down the pier. At the top of this post is a shot of her with the city's namesake white rock. A must photo-op for tourists. She said she had never seen a live crab, so we got turning over rocks as the tide was going out and she saw a couple of small ones.

Lee loves ice cream so we made sure to stop for cones before heading home. I know, I really dont need an ice-cream, but Lee insisted!
When we arrived home it was 5:30 and my parents had just arrived at the house. Having left the Okanagen that morning. After hugs all around we settled in for a nice evening of chat and catching up. Monday, Keith headed off to Alberta to help his brother with a few things. My folks took Lee on an outing and I took my kids out for a bit of back to school shopping.

Tuesday the kids had their first day back to school. A bit of a waste of time as they just basicly go a couple of hours for a head count to see who's there and who's moved away.

Today was their first full day. It was also Andrews' first day getting to college in New Westminster. He has never had to take the bus out there on his own. He didn't even know where the college was as all the registrations had been online. If I was smart, I would have had him take a test run last week, but we were busy. I took him to school and showed him where all the bus connections were and where the sky train stations are too. Armed him with a bus pass and bus schedule, I gave him a reminder that there are a lot of weirdos and junkies around and to be careful and don't talk to strangers. I dropped him at the college. As he started walking towards the building, he came level with a pretty young lady headed in the same direction. I watched as he struck up a conversation with a perfect stranger. Nobody can accuse him of being shy! He made it home in one piece, so I guess he will do ok. Here he is a grown man and I still worry!

It was a busy vacation, we did lots. Now I head back to work, Keith is off for a few more days. Now I just have to wait untill Christmas for another week of vacation!

Glad you've been having such a great time on your holidays. Harrison is where we went for our honeymoon, & our 2nd honeymoon & our 3rd honeymoon. This month is our 35th anniv. and I think we're due for a 4th honeymoon.

Take care and enjoy the good weather we're supposed to be getting.

Loved the photos of White Rock. Many years ago I lived in Aldergrove and a good friend lived in White Rock. We spent a lot of time on the beach and on the pier. I recognized it right away.. even after 30 years.
