Christmas at the Mall.

I had cause to go into our local shopping mall this week. It was decorated with Christmas displays. I was happy to see, that once again the Nativity Scene was present, to represent the true meaning of Christmas. This day and age it takes alot of courage for a public place to display any image of Christianity. More often than not, Christmas is made into a Winter Celebration or Seasonal Festival.
Of course there was also the Photo with Santa area, decorated to look like Santas living room. I did'nt take a picture of that because , I figured that was Santas territory. He works hard all year getting the toys ready for the girls and boys. The least I can do is allow him the Monopoly on Santa Photos to try to recoup some of his overhead!
There was a beautiful North Pole display, featuring all kinds of arctic creatures and igloos. They had some sort of illuminated mat under the snow that made it glow like glacial ice. It was a very pretty sight. I love the little penguins marching out of the igloo. Speaking of malls, this reminds me that I need to get back there to pick up a few more things. By few, I mean LOTS!!!
Are you having fun shopping? And has your mall got a Nativity scene?

Mall? What's a mall?

I always thought they were used car lots.

Just to clear things up, a shopping mall is a large building with lots of shops and restraunts in it. Indoor shopping at its finest.
Sorry Fred, I thought it was a universal term!

Hi Susan, I agree about the "political Correctness" of Christmas. It has been celebrated for over 2000 years and now it is to be called the winter holiday. It is even hard to find Christmas - sorry - GREETINGS cards, that have the word Christmas on them. Why should we apologise for showing an appreciation of the meaning of Christmas? Most of the objectors are not people of other faiths, just "do gooders" who are always looking to find offence on behalf of everyone else.

This past couple of years, when our family has chosen to donate to charity, instead of so many unwanted and unneccessary gifts, for all adult members, have given me back the meaning of Christmas. It has also meant an awful lot more time on my hands from the endless round of shopping and racking your brains for suitable gifts. Our family is so blessed to have each other and everyone feeling family love, and that is the best gift of all.

I was honestly feeling really embarrassed at the amount of money our family spent on gifts, so getting back into thinking of others, is a gift we give to ourselves. The kids still enjoy the gifts, but the adults are just happy to have love and peace within the family. What better feeling is there at Christmas or any time of year.

Hi, it's me again. Have you noticed that your lovely mall scenes have got both penguins and polar bears??? They live at opposite ends of the earth, however, they do look cute.

Our mall is pretty lame here, I was there the other day and they didn't really have much in decorations.

I like that your mall bucked the system and put up a nativity, because that is what is really all about.

Politics, BAH HUMBUG.
An apple is an apple.
Christmas is Christmas so celebrate it if your Chritstian, if your not come party with us and invite us to come to your special day to see how you celebrate in your house in your religion.
Take the politics and radicals out back to the yard and turn them into snowmen until they feel the spirit or the spirit comes to take them away and leave us in peace to celebrate.

I thought a mall was some sort of hammer but what do I know. Good thing we don't have that igloo display around here because if Ellen were to see penquins walking around she would lose it. She gets to cacklin' and catterwallerin' when she see penquins. I bet that was a cool display up close. Have a good weekend
