Daffodil Time

What a nice unexpected surprise! FTS has spotlighted me this week. He has sent by a few familiar faces and a few new ones too. Well I sure wasn't expecting you, but come on in. I'm so glad you took the time to drop by.

Locally, our spring flowers are up. The daffodil of course being my perennial favorite. Maybe it had something to do with me naming my blog after William Wordsworth, the poet who penned that wonderful Daffodil prose. Here is the full version for you to enjoy.

William Wordsworth (1770-1850)

THE DAFFODILS
I wandered lonely as a cloud

That floats on high o'er vales and hills,

When all at once I saw a crowd,

A host, of golden daffodils;

Beside the lake, beneath the trees,

Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the stars that shine

And twinkle on the milky way,

They stretched in never-ending line

Along the margin of a bay:

Ten thousand saw I at a glance,

Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

The waves beside them danced;

but theyOut-did the sparkling waves in glee:

A poet could not but be gay,

In such a jocund company:

I gazed - and gazed - but little thought

What wealth the show to me had brought:

For oft, when on my couch I lie

In vacant or in pensive mood,

They flash upon that inward eye

Which is the bliss of solitude;

And then my heart with pleasure fills,

And dances with the daffodils.

March is the Canadian Cancer Society's big fund-raising month, which is always run on a daffodil theme. They began raising money by selling daffs by donation, and the bonneted bloom has remained their emblem ever since.

Those who visit here often, have remarked to me on what a positive, upbeat sight they find this to be. I often post photos of flowers and seaside scenes and smiling children. I try to include positive thoughts and like to give a carefree read on the whole. Just like everyone else though, I have my share of hard times, difficulties, and challenges, that I would rather not have to rise up to. Sometimes, my heart is aching. But when I sit down to do my post, (my therapy) I start by looking through my photos, Ill find one to share and write my post around that. Looking for things to appreciate, I usually find one, or two. When I feel gloomy or have unpleasant issues going on in my life, I don't often share that here. I don't know if it is because I am private, or prideful. I know you would be supportive if I shared my worries here. When other bloggers share their concerns, I feel privileged that they shared that part of their life with me. I guess , for me....Looking on the bright side, trying to focus on the love and good in my life, is what keeps the smile on my face. Seeing the daffodils blooming again, and remembering that poem is just one of those happy things. My prose-ac.

Thanks for joining me.

I absolutely ADORE daffodils; they are such happy flowers. We got a big dump of snow yesterday, so spring is a long ways off here. I'm envious.

What a lovely pic of the daffodils. I adore fresh flowers in my house and just wish I could afford to buy them.

As you were spotlighted this week, I thought it only right that I pop by and say hello. Have a good week.

I saw daffodils for the first time this year, today :o) It's definitely a cheery sight!

And it's scary how many of us use our blogs as therapy ;o)

No flowers here yet, I am hoping there will be down south when I go.

The daffodils are beautiful.

I like that photo! My town of Mt. Vernon is pretty well known for tulips & daffodils but I will miss them this year since I probably won't get back home until May. They certainly are a bright, cheerful flower.

Love the shot.

You are always so positive, even when you are blue you find the silver lining.

A lesson to be learned. Thank you.
