Last Year's Roses

I have had a few bloggers tellme that my site is taking forever to load and sometimes comes up as an ad site.

So I have reduced the number of post days on this page to seven. Hopefully that will speed up loading time. The remaining posts are still availiable for your viewing pleasure in the monthly archives.

Also, it seems to me that people started mentioning this ad site problem since I loaded in a Current Moonphase template in my side bar. I got rid of it for now to see if that was causeing the ad site. Let me know if it happens again.

Yesterday I totally sorted out my bedroom closet and this morning I got up and emptied out my hall coat closet. I filled a garbage bag with clothes and old coats that we never wear. So after all this sorting out I now have 5 garbage bags for charity. My hubby cant believe it, but I am also getting rid of my wedding dress and veil. It doesnt hold any value to me any longer. My value is in our marriage. It only took me 20 years to realize that I dont need to hang onto sentimental keepsakes of that day. I have the memories and the photos. Most of this stuff will go to Covenent House, a homeless shelter for teens. My husbands work has this as their charity of choice.

So we have some sun in the sky today. It wont last long, as there are clouds on the horizon. So I will get out now and prune the roses. They all have little green shoots sprouting on their branches. It wont be long before these same branches are laden with fragrant blooms, I am soooo looking forward to that.

Roll on spring!!!!

I better get out the snow shovel and see if our roses are blooming yet.

Hi Susan, our roses are still sticks, but won't be too long before they show some life, all bulbs are through, but no colour yet. This has been such a mild January but it could freeze hard yet for a while, so hope flowers don't get too much ahead of themselves. Meanwhile, the daily sunshine is fabulous.

Does Heidi not want to keep the dress for her wedding, it was a beauty and should suit her as well as it did you.

see you Monday, mom

That rose is beautiful. Last winter here in the Sonoran Desert there were flowers all over the place because there had been quite a bit of rain. This year the area is setting records for the number of consecutive dry days and everything is brown. Of course, we Snowbirds didn't come south for rain, so the near 80 degrees of today was fine with most of us.

I just popped in and was directed right to an ad sight, so it's still happening.

Hope you figure the problem out soon.

The roses are beautiful.

I had no trouble getting here and it downloaded quickly.....we get pics of the new blooms when they show up, right. By the way, you always have such wonderful perspective.

Often people cling to sentimental things because they feel like 'the good old days'. Now I'm not against having a few keepsakes around (or I wouldn't be into scrapbooking) but I think it's good when we don't feel the need to surround ourselves with reminders that we have a good life, or a good marriage. Sometimes it makes me wonder who people are trying to convince. I like the idea that you can part with the wedding dress, not because it isn't important to you, but because you know you have much MORE important things already there for you.

Susan - every page takes a long time on dialup! But I did notice that your site was being sort of hijacked, it would switch to another site by itself. But not this time. I have the moon phase thing on my site and it doesn't affect anything. But then I've got so much stuff on there anyway. Way to go webmaster! ;)

The rose is beautiful. I've got shoots on mine too but after last nights wind storm, they probably all blew away.

I still have my wedding dress in the hopes that one day my daughter will wear it. I showed it to her and she said...that dress is so '70's so I guess she won't wear it afterall.

Take care and have a good Sunday.

Sorry I am late but beautiful picture. Also, thanks for the reminder of what I need to do. Time to get out in that garden and clean and prun or boss D around while he does anyways lol.

Any chance the rain will hold off. (fingers crossed)

Your wedding dress! I think you should keep it and have it made into Christening dresses for when you have grandbabies.

Yes, I'm ready for spring. It's been colder than usual down here, It's only going to be in the 60s this week. Horrible!

Good idea on getting rid of the wedding dress - now if I could get my oldest daughter to get hers out of my closet.......

Beautiful rose.
