Days Off

Here I am at the end of my first day off. It was wonderfully relaxing. It feels like the first easy day I have had since the holidays. And the best part is, i still have tommorrow off too. My days off move around alot. I dont have the usual weeekend off like most folks. I only get a full weekend off every five weeks. My days off rotate. I work Four days on then have two days off, four on two off.....into eternity. Some times it sucks not getting weekends off. I miss things that the kids have planned, family dinners, parties etc. On the other hand, having days off midweek has its upside too. Its easier to get to appointments for one thing. Malls and restraunts are not so busy either. Hubby also has a wierd schedule too. So sometimes we both have days off midweek, then we can appreciate having time together without kids . I love my kids but some times its nice to be husband and wife without the added pressures of being Mom and Dad too.
We are planning a little get away soon, just the two of us. I find we really need our alone time. Life gets so busy sometimes with all the obligations of family. As much as we love the crazy family life, we need to have time to be just us. Forget about the world for a couple of days and escape. We are going to a hot springs resort. It is set by a lake , surrounded by mountains and ever green forests. I love to sit in the hot mineral springs, outdoors, in the middle of winter. Its nice in summer too. But winter, in the rain and fog, sitting out in those hot pools....AAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sooooo nice.

There is also an awesome brunch there in the lakeside restraunt, can you say pig out? I love to sit overlooking the lake and the view while partaking of a smorgasbordorgasbord breaky.
I am sooo loooking forward to it. I remember back to the days, when the kids were tiny, and we were a one income family, struggling to get by. Well, we still struggle but not as much as then. Such a getaway back then was impossible. Even now a weekend away like this seems like such a luxury. Although the money could easily be put to more practical uses or saved for the big retirement time. Its making memories together that will stay with us long after the money is gone. Like that Keith Urban song.... 'Making Memories of us'.
Have a great week everyone.
I am posting a couple of pics of the last time we were there.

I hope the weather changes in time for your getaway. All this rain is getting to be quite a pain, isn't it.
If you're going to where I think you're going, it's close to home but yet a million miles away. It's where we went for our honeymoon and also on several anniversaries. A perfect place to relax and to renew the spirit.

Take care and have a good week.

That sounds a lot like Harrison Hot Springs where our MG Car Club used to go on an annual Fall Colors Tour from the Seattle area. Annie felt so good while in the pools, a nice break from the pain of her rheumatoid arthritis. It was only temporary but she enjoyed it. Wonderful memories!

Be sure to put money away for retirement too. It is nice to be able to retire early and to be financially secure.

Great pictures. It sounds like you guys had a really good time. Since it won't be long before our kids move out and are gone, we're taking a break from the "just the two of us" kinds of trips. We'll resume when they're gone, which will be too soon for us.

Nice pics and post! Can I go for a ride in the boat? What a beautiful place to live :)

That looks so wonderfully relaxing. Hubby and I really could use a break from everything, it's just finding the time, and money wouldn't hurt either.

I also work many weekends and often have days off during the week. I kind of like it that way.

Hope your little get away happens soon. A hot springs resort sounds wonderful.. even in the winter :-)
