Sisters Four

THEN - circa 1970's. My sisters and I. The littles ones are twins, Catherine on the far left and Sheila in front of myself on the right and my sis Carol (joes Angel) in yellow. In the English woods. As soon as we could toddle, our parents had us out for walks every weekend. We learned an appreciation for the beauty around us. We may not have realized at the time, but we also were learning an appreciation for family. This is obviously winter. Check out those cold legs. English girls had to wear dresses to school no matter what, so we just always wore dresses. I dont think I even owned a pair of jeans until we moved to Canada a few years later. These same woods, come spring, would be carpeted with bluebells and followed a few weeks later by a blanket of daffodills. I can remember feeling like I was in a dream at the sight of all the bluebells each spring.

SOMEWHERE IN BETWEEN - circa 1992. This was taken a couple of days before the youngest sister went off to AFRICA for her 9 month hike, army style. (oh yeah, my kinda holiday! NOT). The twins are in the middle. Me on the left and Carol on the right. At this point, i was the only one who was a mother (of 3). Needless to say, I looked slightly weathered! It was sad to see our little Moggey leave us for such a dangerous trip. How much sadder would we have been, if we had known she would not be home again to stay for 12 years!

NOW - circa Thanksgiving 2005. Here we are again, all back together on my back porch with our Daddy. I will update this post in another decade or so. Stay tuned for that photo! It doesnt matter how wrinkled, gray, fat or nearsighted any of us become, as long as we are all still together. Sharing lives.

I love you Moggey, Aunty Lima, and Martine.

I think sisters share a special bond. I have two and I wouldn't trade them for anything.

Have a good weekend. Hopefully the sunshine will continue.

Coming from a family of sisters, I can really appreciate this post.

You have a beautiful family.

Gee, I didn't realize you are Joe's Carol's sis. How did I miss that? DUH

I so enjoyed seeing this one. It just reminds me how much I miss my brother who does not care to have a relationship other than with his wife's family. Glad you all are still close.
