Sorry I have been so long in posting. My mum and I went away for a few nights on Vancouver Island. We went over to attend a couple of meetings for our Eastern Star Group. We also had lots of time to just hang out and sight see and check out the tourist spots which of course, included the shops!
The weather was not always cooperative, but we did get one really great sunny morning in Naniamo. We walked all along the marina and waterfront , which is very pretty and was right across from our hotel.
This white building is the Bastion, a relic from the early settlement days, it has been well kept and nicely complements the waterfront character. This huge anchor was retrieved from a ship that sank here over 100 years ago. That's mom there reading the history plaque, so you can see how enormous this hunk of iron actually is! There were also some old cannons dotted along the walk.
The fall colours are just a fire of yellow , red and orange right now , making the Island more beautiful than ever. Many, many people were out enjoying the sun and sea air. Ill post more photos of our getaway soon. Tonight I have to work the first of a few night shifts. So I had better go get some rest beforehand.
