Quarterfinal Win.

Tonight was the seventh game in the series between our Vancouver Canucks and the Dallas Stars. It was a 'Do or Die' game. After leading the series 3-1, Vancouver squandered games 5 & 6, forcing a seventh game.
The goalies in this series were equally fantastic. The Dallas goaltender Marty Turco shut Vancouver out completely in the three games they lost, meeting a record for most shutouts by a goalie in a series. Game seven was anybodies win.
I know Vancouver so well. When they are pressed they quite often can make it happen. Roberto Luongo really did a fine job tonight under incredible pressure of a game 7 at home. It was Linden's second winning goal in the best-of-seven series. How awesome that the winner was scored by my all time favorite #16 seven minutes into the third period. That goal was soon followed up by two empty netters to make a final score of 4:1 for Vancouver.
You could hear people all through my ward hootin and hollerin, and I went running to the nearest residents TV to catch the replay. Watching hockey at work is not so highly recommended! I wanted to run up and down the halls screaming and dancing, but that sort of thing is frowned upon where I work, so I had a quick little cheer and then got right back to my Med cart. Besides, I do really need to keep a clear head in my job. But it was hard. I got my work done with a big idiot grin on my face for the rest of the evening.
This was almost as exciting as that first round Calgary series back in 94, the first year I got drawn into the Canucks Magic. That year we won three series, making us the Western Conference finalists and took home the Con Smyth trophy. We went on to play New York Rangers right through to game seven. I cried that night when Captain Kirk was bested by the shot that counts the most. To watch our lads go so far, and to see their shoulders slump as they sat stunned while they watched the Rangers celebrate their victory was painful. I felt really awful for them. Yet they lined up and shook hands with each member of the victorious team. That's class. So tonight, when Dallas had that same defeated look to them after our win, I really did empathize with their boys. Sorry Dallas! But all the same, I am sooo happy for the Canucks!
Its been a while since we saw a second round in the playoffs. So, starting on Wednesday, its NUCKS vs DUCKS. Darn it, I am working that night too!

It would be fun to watch the Canucks and the Stars with some Canadian friends...of course, Dallas would have to win...LOL. Seriously, I love hockey and so does my daughter. It would be fun to watch with you guys no matter which team won. (But Dallas would win..LOL)

It was a great game! Lots of nail-biting after Dallas scored the first goal. Our guys were great, especially Linden.

I've been waiting and now it's time to hang my little Canucks flag on the front of the house. On to round two....yay!

I guess I'm a terrible Canadian because I don't follow hockey. BTW: Nursing was my other choice of profession. I started taking a few courses and then transferred the credits to education.

I know nothing about ice hockey only that it's a rough game and sometimes exciting for the fights :-)
I also know nothing about the game rules, but the way you and Bobbie talk about hockey is nicely to read.
