Godspeed

"God bless mommy and match box cars. God bless dad and thanks for the stars. God heard "Amen," wherever you are, And I love you."
Dixie Chicks
My parents have been here for our belated Christmas celebration for my side of the family. Today, they will be driving back to their home in Oliver. A 400 Kilometer ride through the mountains. This morning we had a bit of fresh snow that fell overnight, which will surely be alot more in the hills. But after checking on the road report they decided it would be fine. So they are on their way now and my thoughts go with them.
These photos were taken by my Dad back in December of 2001, on their way back home after that years Christmas stay. They pulled over at the side of the road to take these pictures. They got back in the car, and a few minutes later, went off the road, hit a snow bank, the car went airborn, hit a big pine tree and landed on its roof in four feet of snow. They were trapped and had to be cut out with the jaws of life. Mum still has health issues related to that accident. Dads broken bones seem to be well behind him. There were angels watching over them that day to have survived such a bad crash. They were just fortunate that it happened at that spot and not where they might have gone over a huge cliff. And also lucky to have witnesses with cell phones, so were able to get help in a reasonable amount of time.
So now you know why I worry about them driving home.
Godspeed and angels. Get home safe!

We made it home, after rain through the Fraser Valley, once we past Hope and Sunshine Valley(never sunny),we ran out of the rain and the roads were good and we continued home at normal highway speeds (plus a bit more).
Thanks for the pics, I had fogot about them. I will report in My blog, A Camera on the Hope Princeton.

I'm glad they made it home. I could definitely understand the worry. I worry everytime Julia gets on a plane these days.
