Call me crazy! I went out this morning on a photoshoot. Four hours of snapping snow capped mountains and various other scenes of my little town. Maple Ridge is a special place to live with all the conveiniences of a modern city. Yet, it is perched in the middle of such gorgeous rural woodland and farms. Iced with this few inches of snow its even lovlier. This morning the clouds lifted and clear blue skies graced the town of Maple Ridge. The temperatures are minus 10c with a windchill factor, making it feel like minus 18c. Bundled in my many layers I went out to capture all this glory on my camera. I took 418 shots. Here are a few of them. Click your mouse on any photo to enlarge it.
My little mini van got me about town in comfort. It maneuvers just fine through the snow. The main roads are clear , but the side roads have frozen over. You could litterally lace up and skate doen the center line!
This old barn looked delightful with a cap of snow. Looks awful drafty. Hope the livestock within its walls have warm beds!
This little pony was soaking in some sun. His thick, coarse, winter coat keeping him warm. The Golden Ears Mountains, splendid, in the background. He is just adorable, even though he probably didnt cost an arm an a leg to buy. He doesnt seem to mind the snow at all.
Here you have more of a middle class horsey. Note his nice winter jacket. What all the better horses are wearing this winter. He even posed for me. Did I get his best side? LOL!!!
Here is a shot of the Ranch. The paddocks here are all usually full of thorough bred arabians and full pedigree stallions. Hovever, equines of such an affluent, well to do stock... wouldnt be caught dead in the snow. My goodness, the horror! One might slip and break a hoof! No , these fine beasts are cozy and safe in their heated stalls. This is the same Ranch (AKA The Maple Ridge Equi-Center) that is home to our little neighbourhood pub, where we go to do Karaokee now and then.

Wow!
I never get to experience such things at Singapore. It never snows. Not in a million years. I'm fascinated by your pictures!
Nice pictures Susan. Thanks for sharing them. Our Golden Ears looked gorgeous today, didn't they!
LOL @ Middle CLass Horsey. He better watch out that the Lower Class Horsies don't steal that nifty coat right off his back! It's cold out there!
Barbara
The lower class horses are revolting. Down with the upper class horses, we want free hay and a warm stable( a BIT like welfare)
Over 400 shots, I went out and took about 6 and headed back in, then took some out the van window and some through the kitchen window. We had minus 10 with windchill minus 22.
Beautiful British Columbia - what a treat to have snow. Nice pictures.

Lovely photos...I found your blog through your Dad!
It's nice to see the sun in your part of BC...we haven't had any sun at all...just snow, ice and wind. Before that, huge windstorms and rain contributed to boil water advisories.
I'll be back!
very cool!
BEAUTIFUL BEAUTIFUL photos! THX for sharing! ~ jb///
Yup, that's pretty. Sounds like you had a nice day clicking away. Next you'll have to take some shots on Thursday when the rain turns all that snow into slush and ice!
