Water-front Property

Yesterday was a gorgeous day. The sun was out. It was warm, and I had the day off. So my parents and my daughter, who was also off school , all piled into the van and headed out.
We went to Westminster Quay. It is a wonderful board walk along the entire frontage of the city of New Westminster. This whole area used to be light industrial . But has been reclaimed and is now a marvelous place to stroll on a sunny day. The paddle wheelers are docked here, a reminder of the watery heritage of this place.

On our way home we pass this place, located a few minutes drive from my home. I pass it most days on my commute. For weeks now I have been seeing this barn reflected in the water and thought what a great shot it would make. I never had my camera with me on those days where a great photo op presented itself. This shot is taken looking east at 2.30 pm. My dad had his camera with him and he got me to pull over and got these two awesome photos. There is actually Mt. Baker, a glacial Volcano just beyond those distant clouds. Sometimes it can be seen in the water also. Sorry, it was hiding for this shot.

This is is the same farm, taken from the same spot, but looking westward. What, at first glance, appears to be a lake, is actually an underwater field. Hydroponics? Not quite. The days upon days of rain has taken its toll. Most of the farms have had standing water for weeks. Although it has been really nice for a couple of days, the ground is still saturated. We will be needing quite a few days of dry weather before this all drains away. But at least the ducks are happy.

Thanks Dad for getting these for me to share here.

How beautiful. I LOVE harbourfronts - ironic for a landlocked prairie girl, huh.

I like your Dad's photos & his request that you stop to take them. You need to remember to carry your camera with you! I know, I should speak, as last week I made a mad dash back from dinner to take a sunset photo, because I forgot to carry either camera with me. How do we say it, "Do what I say, not necessarily what I do." I'll also try to improve on carrying my camera.

My daughter wants to live on a farm. Now let me tell you WHY: she wants a bull. That's right...a bull.

She asked me if she raises one from birth if he will ever be mean to her.

I said yes...(I don't want her to have one).

Wonderful photos, and have you ever walked up the volcano? (Assuming you can ;o)) Though I guess it wouldn't be very pretty.

OMG, I LOVED the picture of the barn. I certainly hope you've got that printed, framed and placed somewhere prominent in your home.
