Winters Decorations

Icicles are hanging from the bumpers. Car doors are frozen shut. This last couple of days I had to climb into my van via the rear hatch as all the side doors were frozen shut!

This bridge was decorated with a garland of icecles all along the side. This cold weather sure pretties everything right up!

I love the way Mother Nature adorns everything. The snow and icicles are all the winter embelishments I need. However, the city of Maple Ridge feels other wise. Year after year, they bring out the same old decorations. They have been using them for so many years, it sure says something about recycling and re-using! Also these old decorations are now such a familiar winter display, that they have attatchd themselves to the Maple Ridge traditions. If there were to be a suggestion of new decorations, the town would probably be in an uproar! With all things 70's back in vouge, one might even say that Maple Ridge has RETRO decorations! Hey! What do you know.... We are soooo groovy! You may have seen these decorations in several movies. Several Christmas films have been shot along our main street (224th St.). Last summer, the decorations were up in July and fake snow was sprayed on everything!

Today it is snowing again. It is expected to fall thoughout the night but should warm up and may rain by Friday! Soon natures white blanket will turn to brown , slopppy, slush!

oh hon, i love icicles. i love the way they look and sparkle in the sun or when they are melting and drip..i'm fascinated by them, silly eh? lol..when the house or car gets them, you figure they are a gift to me, just for me. i am like a little kid showing them off...

i love that your town dresses up for Christmas. i would love it if they did that here. they dress up the light poles for stampede but that is it..how sad is that eh?
your streets look beautiful like that, how festive.

I love your town decorations - retro is cool! I was noticing the icicles tonight on the drive home - they're beautiful on the eaves of buildings, but could be dangerous I guess. It's snowing here in Surrey again too - hurray - I love it but I'm sure glad we don't have to put up with it until April, like Winterpeg.

Those are some swanky decorations! I just love driving down the street and seeing all the pretty lights on the trees and on houses. Some people around here really go to town. My parents' neighbor has the city of Richmond turn out the street light in front of his house so as not to take away from the brilliance of his display. lol

Don't start worrying until the icicles are hanging off of your EARS. :)

Well, it looks very cold but very pretty.
We don't get snow here so it's lovely to look at and try to imagine.
